Course Info
Purpose
This blended, instructional course, is designed to increase your overall understanding of conventional lifeboat systems. This course aims to inform you first, through the online theoretical lessons, about all the several elements of a conventional lifeboat system. After completing the practical training you will be able to accomplish a safe lifeboat drill and all the necessary preparations and checks of the system in case of an actual emergency.
Structure
The course is conducted both as e-learning and practical hands-on training. To participate in the practical session, you need to complete the online theoretical session first at your own pace.
Content
Upon completion of the course, the participant will be familiar with all the various elements of a Conventional Lifeboat System, including on-load release gears and be able to distinguish between safe and risky operations during Lifeboat drills. You will train yourself to know all the necessary actions and procedures to achieve a safe and efficient evacuation. Focus topics: • Execute right launch and recover procedures • Know how to properly release and reset on-load release gears • Perform Weekly and Monthly routine maintenance as per MSC.402(96) and maker instructions • Participate in a safe drill as per MSC.1/Circ.1578 and maker instructions • Follow an abandon ship procedure • Prepare the lifeboat system in a readiness status • Learn safety tips by the maker and give solutions on troubleshooting
